    Time and Daylight Saving Time

  • Navy Time Service Dept Boring but accurate.
  • Official U.S. Time Shows daylight/night world relief
Note:Daylight Saving Time or "Summer Time" has been the 1st Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October. Beginning in 2007 (per the Energy Policy Act of 2005 ) Daylight Saving Time will change. It will begin at 2:00 am on the 2nd Sunday in March and extend to the 1st Sunday in November, an increase of about a month. This is expected to save 300,000 barrels of oil each year.
    DST 2010: 2:00:00 am Mar 14 to 1:59:59 am Nov 7duration 238 days
    DST 2011: 2:00:00 am Mar 13 to 1:59:59 am Nov 6duration 238 days
    DST 2012: 2:00:00 am Mar 11 to 1:59:59 am Nov 4duration 238 days
    DST 2013: 2:00:00 am Mar 10 to 1:59:59 am Nov 3duration 238 days
    DST 2014: 2:00:00 am Mar 9 to 1:59:59 am Nov 2duration 238 days
    DST 2015: 2:00:00 am Mar 8 to 1:59:59 am Nov 1duration 238 days
  • Spring forward, Fall Back.
  • Grammer: "Daylight Saving Time" is correct, not "Daylight SavingS".
  • Some states require bars to close at precisly 1:59:00 (vs 2am) to prevent them from adding an extra hour in the fall !
  • Why is UTC used as the acronym for Coordinated Universal Time instead of CUT?
  • In 1970 the Coordinated Universal Time system was devised by an international advisory group of technical experts within the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The ITU felt it was best to designate a single abbreviation for use in all languages in order to minimize confusion. Since unanimous agreement could not be achieved on using either the English word order, CUT, or the French word order, TUC, the acronym UTC was chosen as a compromise. http://tf.nist.gov/general/misc.htm#Anchor-14550
  • 3/13/2011 1:59:59 AM is NOT daylight saving time.

    Rampant "Server Time" Calibration
    9/4/2010 1:23:41 AM
Our site is hosted at Rampant, Inc (Bob Scott's company).

Rampant's clocks are calibrated using software that compensates for the time it takes data to travel from the Naval Observatory (via the Internet). That process is generally accurate to within 1 second of the Naval Observatory.

The time you see may actually be off by several seconds, anywhere from 5-10 seconds, due to the time it took to travel over the Internet to YOUR computer.

  • Time this page was sent: 1:23:41 AM.
  • "Current" time at your location when the page is received 1:23:46 AM after factoring 5 seconds transmission time.
